1.	As we pause to celebrate the holidays and reflect on the past year,
I want to take the opportunity to thank you for your service.  Throughout
the year you have given so much to Team CG.  Thousands of hours have been
spent on patrol, at the stations coaching, cooking and watch standing,
visiting veterans hospitals, instructing, visiting marine dealers,
conducting marine inspections, conducting public affairs and education, and
countless hours of administration supporting the program.  When Hurricanes
Katrina and Rita struck, the response was amazing; our members reached out
to provide any support they could, volunteering to go down to the scene,
organizing volunteers at home, and generously reaching into your pockets to
support Coast Guard Mutual Assistance and Operation Life Ring.  It is my
pleasure to be associated with such an outstanding group of kindhearted
professionals.  The Coast Guard could not be the premiere maritime service
without you. 

2.	From all of us at the Director's office, we wish you and your family
a holiday filled with joy and warmth, and a safe and healthy new year.
